Camping and Apartment Hunting

At this point most of you know that Sean had been looking at continuing his education by getting a PHD in Sport Management. We had previously taken a trip to Ohio to meet with Sean potential adviser and to check out the school. Well we decided that Ohio State University was going to be the best fit for us and that we would be moving to Columbus Ohio the end of July. We knew we would need to find a place to live so we decided to take one more trip up to Columbus to find housing and to save money we decided to camp along the way.

Our first stop was in Point Pleasant WV. We weren't there long as we had to get up early the next morning to get to Columbus. But this was Maia's first night camping and she did amazing!

The camp ground and Maia in the morning.

After looking at some places we had some time till our next apartment appointment so we decided to check out the OSU campus athletic facilities that we didn't get to see the first time.
They have a pretty nice track.

Checked out the softball field and the baseball field.

For lack of a better word, OSU has a football shrine set up to display all of their trophies and they have a giant screen that shows a video of the football team winning the national championship.

National Championship trophy.
A Heisman trophy.
We camped out the second night at a cool little park called Jackson Lake. The picture above is our lovely dinner.

I took a few pictures of Maia to commemorate her being 8 months old.

The lake (or what I would call a pond).

After camping we had a few more apartments to look at and then we headed back to Virginia.

Virginia Tech and Baseball

As most of you know Sean is a baseball fanatic. He can't get enough baseball. So to help satisfy his baseball thirst a little we, with our friends Paige and Ty Hiatt, when to a semifinals game that was being hosted at Virginia Tech, in Blacksburg VA.

We had general admission seats so we got to sit on the grass.

Maia was a good sport the whole time.

She was loving being outside, baseball and the water bottle.

Going home

The night before we left to go home, Brit talked Mom and Dad into taking us all out for dinner. We went to the Texas road house and Maia had part of my sweet potato and LOVED it. I think she may have eaten more of it then I did.
This Girl loves her food.
On the way home we had a layover in Chicago. What was supposed to be a 1 hour layover turned into a 3 almost 4 hour layover because of the plane pictured above. You can't quite tell in the picture but that plain is Air Force One, the presidents plane.
I was very grateful I had my stroller because it allowed Maia to stretch out a little and I didn't have to put her on the gross airport floor. We did finally make it home and although we had an amazing time, we were glad to finally be home.

Memorial Day Weekend

Maia and I were in Utah over Memorial Day weekend and we had to fill that weekend with fun things to do so first off we went to support one of my best friends as she finished her first 5k. She did a great job and it was fun to see her. I hadn't seen Tiffany in probably over 5 years although we talk several times a week.

Maia was going through this phase where she loved water bottles.

Maia snuggling with Aunt Mel.
They were such good buddies.
Maia and Grandpa all ready for church.
Aunt Brit was teaching Maia how to be a card shark. No wonder Brit won!

Grandma was too cold in the house so she had to wrap up in a blanket.
On Monday morning, Brit and I decided to go for a hike. It was a lot of fun to get outside and hang out with Brittany. She is such an amazing woman!
We walked up to the Battle Creek falls which are about a half a mile away from the house.
It was a beautiful day and although there were tons of people hiking that day we were able to get some good pictures with out any photo crashers.

We also spent a good amount of time at Eric and Kathryn new place, helping paint and clean and getting it ready for them to move in.
Eric is such a good uncle and Maia felt right at home in his arms.

I also had the chance to go hang out with a friend that I used to work with. She has two little boys and the one in the picture is probably about 8 months older then Maia.

It was so good to be able to spend time with family and with my good friends!
