Halloween

This year for Hollowing Maia was a mermaid!
She had a lot of fun running around in her shinny new outfit and it was hard to get a good picture.

We only went trick-or-treating to one door and that was our bishops who lives down the road.
And she had fun running around their house too!

 ONE YEAR!!

I feel so blessed to be this child's mother. She sure is a character but has such a loving personality. This year has not come with out some challenges. Poor kid seams to always have a cold of some sickness. I think we have experienced all the normal baby things and some crazy things because we chose to cloth diaper. In Maia's first year she has become quite the traveler. She has traveled through the following states: Virginia, West Virginia, Ohio, Oregon, Idaho, Utah, Illinois, Colorado, Florida, and Puerto Rico. She has flown across the country 3 times and really was a trouper each time. Right now she has 2 top teeth and 2 bottom teeth but she knows how to use them because this girl loves to eat! She definitely takes after her parents. She's not really saying any particular words yet but she loves to jabber.

She has brought so much light into our lives and it has absolutely been worth the sleepless nights, the runny noses and all the poopy diapers. Love you Maia!!

Maia Turns One!

Maia's fist birthday start with a bang! Sean and I spent the night before assembling this bad boy and at first Maia wasn't sure what to do with it. Once the music started playing and she saw what the balls could do she got really excited.
My Aunt Jill sent us this awesome chair for Maia.
Sean had school that day so we picked him up and took him on a picnic to celebrate Maia's birthday.
We had these awesome chicken salads and Maia loved the chicken and being able to move around. She isn't quite walking yet but she does give it her best try.
We snapped some cute pictures of her while we were out.

After dinner, we headed up to the northern part of Columbus for a basketball game. I joined a league and that night was my first game.
Once we got home it was time to open gifts and have cake. The picture above came from Nona and Papa Nelson. They gave her a cute little ladybug book and warm Pj's.
We Skyped for a little bit with Grandma and Grandpa Dahlin. They gave Maia a quite book for church, a couple other books and book with pictures of the family.
I made Maia a healthy no sugar added, gluten free birthday cake. It didn't really turn out how I would like it to and I don't think Maia really ate much of it, but she sure had fun making a mess out of it.

Aunt Brittney sent Maia a bunch of clothes and Maia was interested at first...
and not sure of them later.

Reading her book from Uncle Mitch, Aunt Maria and Brenton.
She loves her quite book!

On Saturday we decided to have a little barbecue to celebrate Maia's birthday but it was mostly for us to have a get together with friends and try out our little grill we got for our anniversary.

Maia's 2nd birthday cake. She liked this one a bit better.
Sean invited one of his classmates to come over and they were so sweet and brought an electronic dog for Maia. She loves it! It plays music and she will push the buttons and then dance.
All in all, it is so hard to believe that she is 1 and that a whole year has passed by since I was holding her in my arms that first time in hospital at 3:42 in the morning. I'm looking forward to the many years I have to be this beautiful child's mother.
