After giving birth, they thought that my vomiting would stop. Unfortunately it didn't. Before having Kassia, I had a home nurse come three times a week to place an Iv line which allowed me to get my fluids. Once I got home they set up the home iv's again so I could keep up with my fluids. After a couple of weeks, I had an MRI and a gastric emptying study done, which both came back normal. Since there wasn't an end in site, I asked the dr if I could get a picc line placed. I had to go to the hospital to have it done but once the initial pain wore off, it was well worth getting. My veins were starting to be problematic and placing an Iv was getting harder, so this picc line has been pretty nice. Now my nurse only comes once a week to change the dressing.

This is the machine that took an xray picture of my stomach after I ate radio active scrambled eggs. This was part of the gastric emptying study. They took a picture right after I finished eating the eggs then one an hour and two hours after there first. The point was to see how my stomach digested the food and if it did it in the right amount of time.
I would lay on the table, then they would raise it up and move the bed over the middle of the four squares on the machine. Then the machine would twirl around taking pictures. It was an interesting test but the worst part of it was the eggs.
