This morning after Jon's run we loaded up the van and headed off to go surfing. Michelle took Maia and Jackson to go pick up Sadie from preschool and left Jon and I at the beach. We had a really good time surfing and once Michelle got back, I headed in so she and Jackson could go surfing. Maia played on her blanket, which was covered in sand, and Sadie and I made a sand castle. They didn't stay our in the water for very long and once they came in, I was able to grab a board and head back out. I had caught a couple of waves and was going to try for one more then head in when the fun came to and end. As I was getting back onto my board, I went to push off the ocean bottom and came down on an extremely sharp rock, resulting in an inch long cut on the bottom of my foot. It hurt a little at first but didn't hurt to bad but I figured I should head back to shore. I was on the board and hadn't really looked at my foot so I looked back and blood was running down my foot and onto my ankle.
Gratefully once I got to shore, Jon helped me with the board and I was able to hobble back to the car. The only problem was trying to keep sand out of the wound. After cleaning it out and examining it, although it was borderline, we decided not to go to the doctor, as it wasn't quite deep enough for stitches and I figured I could keep it clean. I hope it heals quickly because foot wounds aren't much fun. Luckily for me, it really hasn't hurt to much and if I walk on the inside or outside, it's not to bad.
Since I injured my foot, it pretty much threw any other plans out the window. I volunteered to watch the kids and let Jon and Michelle have a date night. While they were gone, Jackson and Sadie went to the play ground and I snapped a couple of pictures of them playing.
Maia had a fun time going down the slide with Jackson.
Later Boomer and Jackson wanted to show me a rollerblading routine that they had been practicing. Here they are swinging each other around...
They both die...
...and are raised from the dead.
Even though they day didn't turn out as planned I feel it was a pretty good day.
